Each officer should RESEARCH AND PREPARE a costume for their role. Please bring these costumes to the retreat so that we can help each other with ideas.
At the beginning, what if we had a power point with the skit title "Get a clue about leadership" and had a slide with photos of each of you in costume with the name of the role you are playing? To do that, we will need to take photos at the retreat.

(Enter Casey and Lesta stage right)
Casey: What a beautiful day, but it’s boring too. I haven’t had a good mystery since last week. (sigh)
Lesta: Good morning Misss. Drew, how are you today?
Casey: I’m good, just a little bored. Since I wrapped up that big case last week, there just hasn't been much to do in this small town.
Lesta: Did you hear about the leadership theft going around town? Apparently no one has been able to be a leader since this all started.
Casey: Leadership theft? What is that?
Lesta: Well, it is a little bit like identity theft, only instead of costing money and valuable time to correct the misunderstanding about who ran up the charges on your account, leadership theft is much worse. It can impair a person's ability to help make effective decisions and guide a group to reach their goals. It is having a terrible impact on our families, careers and communities!
Casey: Oh you’re kidding! Do you need any help?
Lesta: That would be amazing, if you find anything let me know.
Casey: I will, and you do the same.
(Lesta and Casey Exit stage left and Megan, Sean, Brandon, and Brittney enter on stage right.)
Brittney: Hey give it back! (in a whiney voice while pulling in a tug-of-war with shaggy/Brandon) FREEEEDDDD Shaggy took my name tag..(starts to pout)
Megan: (steps between Sean and Brittney) Excuse me.....I think you might be confused.Have you not seen my facebook page? Fred and I are "in a relationship"!
Brittney: Have you ever thought that maybe he actually likes brunettes better than redheads?
Megan: Well red hair is better than red dresses.
Brittney: Well purple doesn’t look good on anything and is SO 2009.
Sean:
Stop the Violence ladies! There’s enough Fred to go around!
Brittney: What are you talking about?
Sean: Stop the violence, it’s an FCCLA national program where students learn to recognize, report and reduce violence in their schools and communities. Sounds like you guys might need a little more information about it (hand them each a brochure).
Brittney and Megan: Well she started it….(Points to the other one..)
(Exit Everyone on stage right. Enter Tami, Brandon and Elyssa on stage left)
Brandon: Like zoinks scoob. You’ll never guess what happened today.
Elyssa: Rhat?
Tami: Jenkies guys, did you hear about the leadership theft that is happening?
Elyssa: Ruh Roh. (Jumps into Brandon’s arms) Rhat’s rot rood.
Brandon: Would it calm you down if I give you a Scooby snack? (Set’s Elyssa down and gives her a treat)
Tami: SCOOBY! When you got scared you knocked off my glasses (Starts looking for her glasses, needs to pretend she can’t see anything)
(Enter Sean)
Sean: Is this what you were looking for? (Has glasses and stands all tall and proud)
Tami: Jenkies Fred, thanks but get back. I don't really know how to say this, Fred, but you are wearing WAY too much cologne....
(Brittney runs in)
Brittney: I really like your cologne, and don’t get me started on those muscles.... Did you achieve those results with the
Student Body program?
Sean: I’m just naturally like this (shows off muscle) But what’s the Student Body program?
Brittney: It’s an FCCLA national program that teaches students to eat right, be fit and make healthy choices.
Sean: That sounds AWESOME, and I know some great karate moves that help keep me in shape (demonstrate a few karate moves, Brittney imitates them poorly)
(Everyone leaves on same side, enter in Rachel and Gabrielle)
Rachel: I was just getting ready to give my regional officer speech to all the voting delegates but when I got up in front of everyone I froze. I just don’t understand. I studied and practiced, something just wasn't right....
Gabrielle: I heard that is going around. Kinda sounds to me like someone is stealing the secret of leadership.
Rachel: And I really wanted to tell everyone about
Power of One.
Gabrielle: Power of what? What’s it about?
Rachel: Power of One. It's a program that helps individuals set goals, work to achieve them and then enjoy their success. It has five different areas you can focus on..... A better you, Family Ties, Working on Working, Take the Lead and Speak out for FCCLA.
Gabrielle: That sounds awesome. Maybe we should get together that way we can work on that together!
Rachel: Well, that would be a great start, but it is called power of ONE. Eventually, it is all up to each of us if we reach our goals or not!
Gabrielle: It’s a deal
(They exit, enter Lesta and Casey )
Lesta: (reading from her notebook) That’s 4 confirmed cases of leadership stolen in the last 4 hours. I don’t understand how someone could do such a huge crime!
Casey: Neither do I. Clearly, they don't know much about
Leaders at Work. It’s where youth learn skills dealing with one of the six career units relating to Family and Consumer Sciences education. Anyone who knew how important leadership can be on the job would never try to steal the secret behind leadership from someone else.
Lesta: Hey, that reminds me. During the investigation there was a lot of talk about national programs. Did you know FCCLA has one called
Career Connection?
Casey: Umm, yeah, found that out on my first day at work on the case.
Lesta: Oh, yeah, me too. And how the program helps members explore careers for themselves and improve workplace skills....sounds like a solid plan to help anybody improve for the future.
(cell phone rings)
Casey: (Answers her cell phone) What? No, you can't be serious! (hangs up) I just received a tip that there’s been another crime committed.
(Casey leaves quickly, Lesta stays and Haleigh and Jennifer enter)
Jennifer: Oh Professor Plum, whatever shall I do?
Haleigh: What are you talking about Colonel Mustard?
Jennifer: My leadership has been taken! I was getting ready to start reading for the
Race into Reading program and then all of the sudden, I couldn’t do it.
Haleigh: Oh no, that’s terrible. But what’s Race into Reading? Do you like run somewhere and then sit down to read? I guess for that you would not only need high performance athletic footware but also an engaging and intellectually stimulating piece of reading material....
Jennifer: No silly, FCCLA members can use this program to help elementary students learn more about careers through reading with them! I was with a group of children and then….
Haleigh: It’ll be ok; we will let the public know immediately of the crime! (whips out a smart phone) Just a click here, and here, and here....There. The entire matter has been tweeted and included in my status update. Everyone is on the lookout for your leadership and aware of the situation, thanks to twitter and facebook! (phone chirps) Oh, and Miss Scarlet has a crush on Fred....(phone chirps) Oh, and Daphne is not happy that Miss Scarlet has a crust on Fred. (phone chirps) And Shaggy is building a barn and needs our help.....
Lesta: Ladies, I couldn’t help but overhear your dilemma..
Jennifer: Yes, isn’t it awful!
(Rebecca enters)
Rebecca: Hey guys!
Everyone: Hey Mrs. Green
Rebecca: So I just got a ride from Shaggy and boy was he a BAD driver. I think I need to use the
FACTS program in order to teach him a few lessons in traffic safety.
Lesta: I think you should too. It would really better our community if everyone knew about traffic safety.
(Elyssa runs in)
Elyssa: Rid ri rear romeone ray rommunity? ras rin
Rommunity Rervice! ri’m really rig rin roming rup rith rojects rhat ran retter relp rour rommunity. raybe re rhould ret rogether rand rork romering rout.. (Did I hear someone say Community? As in community service! I’m really big in coming up with projects that can better help our community. Maybe we should get together and work something out)
Lesta: No, Scooby. We we’re just talking about how to increase traffic safety in our community… But come to think of it, we should look into Community Service.
Rebecca: Communa what?
Lesta: Community Service. It helps students build skills for family, career, and community roles. We should be looking into that, but we need to find this missing leadership and catch the culprit!
Elyssa: (all exiting left)) Rell…rall right…ras rong ras reres rnot rary reatures ro racke rare rof! (well alright…as long as there’s not scary creatures to take care of)
(Enter Sean, Casey, and Tami right)
Tami: (looking at papers) Check out this application for the Japanese Exchange Program I got from my chapter advisor! I think it would be neat to go to Japan. Learning about how different their culture is from mine. Jenkies, just thinking about makes me want to catch that thief even more so I can have time to save up money to go.
Casey: I know a way you can catch that thief AND save money at the same time. (Hands flier that says Financial Fitness)
Tami: Whats this?
Sean: Oh, I know all about this. Let me handle this Nancy.
Casey: How would YOU know anything about Financial Fitness? You spend all your money on cologne and hair gel! Now… Financial Fitness is a program that involves youth…
Sean: (Interrupting)that involves youth teaching one another about how to make, spend, and save money wisely. I know about this because I always use coupons when I buy my hair gel.
Tami: Maybe that program is just for me. I spend most of my money new glasses that I keep losing . OH! I almost forgot. Have any of you found any clues about the thief? Or my glasses?
(Enter everyone else, except Haleigh)
Jennifer- I found this if it means anything (hands rope)
Gabrielle- Why does a rope have anything to do with the thief?
(Haleigh runs in)
Haleigh- OKAY OKAY! I did it. It was me, in the library with….*cries* with THAT rope! (cowers to the back)
Everyone- Huh?
Haleigh- ….oh…that’s not what we’re talking about…nevermind.
Lesta- Ummm….ok…. Now back to the real problem. My team and I have analyzed all the clues brought to us.
Megan- And?
Lesta- And what?
Megan- What did you find out?

Lesta- Oh (giggles) I don’t know…the Mystery Machine is broken.
Rebecca- I told you that you shouldn’t let Shaggy drive the Mystery Machine

Brandon- Hey! I’ve learned a lot with that FACTS program! I, like, even buckled my seat belt this time! Now, if I could just get Scooby to quit texting me while I'm driving!
Elyssa--(make a face like you got caught)
Rachel- We’ll have to put the pieces together ourselves.
(All investigators try to put the pieces together)
(While trying, Taylor walks on stage with a mask on and carrying a box marked "leadership secrets")
Elyssa- Ruh roh! (uh oh)
Brandon- like run!
(Brandon and Elyssa hide)
Rebecca- grab her!! Get the rope!!
(all run towards except Brandon and Elyssa, who cower toward the crowd)
Rachel- Well…someone de-mask her.
Sean- Let a man handle this… (pulls off mask)
Everyone- Inspector!
Taylor- What are you guys doing?
Megan- Arresting you! You’re the thief!
Taylor- Thief? What thief?
Brittney- Some creep has been going around stealing leadership from everyone.
Taylor- Oh, that’s nonsense. Don’t you know the REAL source of leadership? Well, the source my friends, you’ll have to find that yourself.
(everyone except Sean, Casey, Lesta, Taylor, and Gabrielle exit off either side)
Sean- Oh, I get it!
Casey- Well whaddya know! Fred actually caught on to something!
Sean- Hey!!!
Taylor- There’s not much to get, so don’t be surprised. You have to find your own leadership. And here’s something that can help. (Opens the box and pulls out an FCCLA handbook)
Lesta- I’ve heard of this! (flips through handbook) Look! It’s all these clues we’ve found! It’s been right under our noses this whole time!
(everyone enter from either side wearing uniforms and stand in front of everyone else, but not hiding them)
Gabrielle: Awesome. I'm so excited we finally....
EVERYONE: ....GOT A CLUE ABOUT LEADERSHIP!
